Beauty Roundup: Best Beauty Finds for 2016

This year has been a year of great beauty discoveries for me, as I dabbled into quite a handful of products to add to my collection. There were  a few hits and misses, but here’s a quick roundup of my best beauty finds for 2016.

Face Primers

Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer

If you have really oily skin, I think you will  like this product. This is one of those primers that the moment you apply it on your face, it instantly removes the shine and makes your skin look velvety matte.

Nivea Post Shave Balm

Weird, right? At first I was skeptic because after all, this is a product for men. But oddly enough, the more I use it, the more I realize why it is highly raved. And to be honest, it’s blowing my mind how a masculine product like this works even better than some high end face primers I’ve tried before. This really does an amazing job of keeping my oils at bay and makeup intact throughout the day.

Foundation, Concealer, Setting Powder

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer (04 Medium Beige)

I discovered this through my fellow Davao beauty blogger, Pau. True to its claim, this full coverage foundation pretty much gives you the coverage you need without having to use a separate concealer. It impressively evens out my skin tone, giving me a flawless canvas in a jiffy. Wear time is also a plus for me as it lasts at least 8 hours with minimal blotting.

L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24 Hours (250 Sable Eclat/Radiant Sand)

This is definitely a strong contender as my best foundation discovery this year. It has everything that I’m looking for in a foundation – great coverage,  impressive oil control, has a demi matte finish, long wearing and a perfect shade match. The only reason why it isn’t on top of my list is because its pro-matte sister beats it by a hair strand.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte (105 Natural Beige)

I actually have mixed feelings for this foundation, just because the flat out matte finish is sometimes problematic for my bipolar skin. I am usually oily, but now that we’re in the colder months, my skin tends to have some dry patches in some areas like my cheeks, sides of my nose and laugh lines. I honestly do cake a lot with this foundation when not applied correctly.  But with proper skin prep, it gives me the most beautiful coverage and reliable wear time. When I know I’d be out for more than 8 hours, this is the base that I reach out for because I can be sure it can withstand sweat and humidity like nothing. Seriously, I’ve worn this foundation for 14 hours and it did not budge one bit. For that reason, this is definitely my best foundation find for 2016.

coty airspun

LA Girl PRO Conceal

Do I even need to say anything about this product? This is, perhaps, one of the most highly raved products in the beauty community and it’s not difficult to see why. The formula is super creamy, has awesome coverage, and it doesn’t move around once set with powder. It’s affordable and it works. What’s not to love?

Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder

It’s hard to believe that this product has been around since 1935 and I’ve only heard about it this year. Have I been living under a rock all this time? This fine and silky setting powder seals your liquid base like nobody’s business. It blurs out pores and makes your skin look smooth and flawless. It extends the longevity of your foundation. Plus, it’s super affordable! Yay for that!

Blushers

LA Colors Mineral Blush in Sheer Bliss | Bourjois Paris 74 Rose Amber

LA Colors Mineral Blush in Sheer Bliss

If you haven’t tried LA Colors Mineral Blushes yet, I suggest you do. These bad boys come in an extensive lineup of shades, varying from nude, peach, pink, and even plum. I do have a couple of these in my collection, but one that I’ve just recently added is this peachy pink shade called Sheer Bliss. Looking at the swatch, does it remind you of a high-end brand that looks exactly like this? Yep, your guess is as good as mine. Doesn’t it look freakishly similar to NARS Orgasm? And guess what, it only cost 125-pesos. Man!

Bourjois Paris Little Round Pot in 74 Rose Amber

This is actually a rediscovery as I’ve  had one exactly like this 3 or 4 years ago. I lost it somewhere and it really broke my heart because it is one of my absolute favorites. Thankfully, my mother-in-law got me a new one. This little round pot has the most flattering rose shade. It gives off that classic french rose vibe that looks surprisingly good on my morena skin tone. The formula is silky and it clings on like second skin.

Lipstickbeauty finds

Maybelline Creamy Mattes

This beauty takes the cake as the best lipstick I’ve discovered this year. The formula and color selection of the Maybelline creamy mattes are so good, you want to collect them all.  I have 5 of these in my collection so far and the only thing stopping me from getting the other shades is the fact that my lipstick drawer could no longer accommodate. I probably won’t be buying new lipsticks until the 3rd quarter of 2017 (said no one ever!).

Lancome French Touch Lipstick in Rose Daria

I’m all about matte lips, but when I feel like my lips need moisture, I reach out for this Lancome baby. This has a creamy consistency that is super hydrating. It also has a subtle reddish pink shade that flatters my tan really well.

Eye Color

Morphe 35o Palette (Nature Glow)

Without a doubt, my best beauty find for this year is the Morphe 35o Palette. For someone like me who doesn’t wear eyeshadow on a daily basis, it’s surprising how badly I wanted to have this palette that I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I promised myself to get one before the year ends and now here I am, all thanks to my hubby. You guys, if you haven’t tried swatching a morphe palette yet, you’re missing out! These shadows are so buttery, glides on smoothly, and has great pigmentation even without primer. It is pretty pricey, but considering the amount of pans you get and the quality of the product itself, you do get a bang for your buck. I’m excited to create different looks with this palette as it pretty much covers everything I need for a day to night eye makeup look.

As you can see, I did not include eyebrow products, mascaras, and liners simply because I didn’t really find something  that stood out to me. I did try out new eyebrow products and eyeliners, but they were just okay – good but not impressive enough, so I decided to just drop them off this list.

And that’s it for my 2016 best beauty finds for this year. How about you? What’s your best beauty find this year?
