There are things you fall madly in love with, but no matter how much you love them, you sometimes look the other way thinking there’s always something better. Never settle, they say. But then, somehow, after searching and trying out different things, you’ll soon realize you cannot cheat your heart’s desires and that you will always eventually find yourself going back to the one who stole your heart — NOPE, I am not talking about relationships. =P
A few days ago, I have rekindled my love for Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. I wasn’t planning on purchasing it since my main goal when I visited Healthy Options was to buy a backup of my Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask. While walking around the skincare section, I spotted a few Dickinson’s products, and the next thing I knew, I was shoving the toner in my cart. Good thing I picked it up because I realized, now more than ever, that this product deserves a place in my holy grail list.
A LITTLE BACK STORY
I discovered Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner in 2012, back when I was already in my healing process from severe acne. At that time, the toner that my dermatologist recommended was already too strong for my almost pimple-free skin. I had to look for an alternative toner and Dickinson’s was the only one I found that did not aggravate my skin condition (ergo: prevented more breakouts). I was in love with this product for almost a year until my skin was totally healed. And, just like any other curious skincare junkie, I moved on to trying several other toners.
Now that I am using this again, I can say it’s still one of the best facial toners I’ve ever tried. What I love about this is that it effectively removes excess oil and gently cleans my pores without drying out my skin. It does not have that tightening effect, which is common among pore refining toners. In fact, it actually does keep my face hydrated. Whenever I use this, I notice that I don’t easily breakout and that my face feels much cleaner and healthier. I also love that it’s super affordable – the 473ml bottle only cost 399php (approx $4) and can last up to 4 months of daily use. The only thing I dislike is the scent – it has a strong, earthy scent due to the witch hazel content.
No, she’s not an evil villain.
Witch Hazel is a shrub with fragrant yellow flowers (hence the strong scent) that’s commonly found in Northern America and in some parts of Asia like Japan. The leaves and bark are widely used for astringents and other medicinal purposes. It contains high concentrations of Tannins, which has the ability to remove excess oil and shrink down pores.
There are toners that promises a lot of things, but are good to be true. And then there are those that are quiet and simple, but works wonderfully. The Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner is exactly that. It’s a straightforward toner that delivers. It’s simple yet it works and that’s all I need for my toner.
Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner is available at Healthy Options. Do remember that it’s the yellow bottle and not the blue one.
P.S: How’s my new header looking? I wanted to try something new just to change things up a bit and to add a bit more personality to my page. What do you think?
