Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is best known for its amazing holistic health benefits, but did you know that it’s also a great addition in your vanity? Wait let me say that again – vinegar for beauty!
Here are 7 beauty hacks you can do with ACV:
One of the most common beauty use of ACV is a face toner. This kitchen staple contains AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), a beauty ingredient commonly known to help exfoliate dead skin cells. It also helps tighten the pores and improves skin elasticity.
How to use: ACV is potent and quite acidic, so it may sting the skin when used on its own. To use it as a facial toner, dilute one teaspoon of ACV in 3 tablespoons of water. Soak a cotton pad and gently apply on the skin. Follow up with a cotton pad soaked in water only to further dilute the ACV on the skin.
If the strong scent of the vinegar bothers you, let the solution sit on to your skin for at least five minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.
2. Acne Treatment
I deal with acne every now and then because of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) so it is imperative for me to have some sort of spot treatment in my vanity. I’ve recently discovered that ACV works great in drying up pimples as it balances the PH in your skin and absorb excess oil.
How to use: Use it as a spot treatment. Get a Q-tip (cotton bud) and soak it in ACV. Apply on areas that need treatment. Leave it on the skin overnight.
3. Brittle Nails Treatment
If you suffer from brittle nails caused by too much usage of nail polish, you can revive your dull looking nails by soaking them in ACV water solution.
How to use: Mix equal parts of ACV and water. Soak your nails for at least 10 minutes. Do this daily until your nails begin to look bright and healthy.
4. Dandruff-free Hair
Apple Cider Vinegar contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, making it a good remedy for dandruff and other scalp problems.
How to use: Mix equal parts of ACV and water. Massage it on to your scalp and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Rinse off with regular shampoo. This technique does not only get rid of dandruff, but it also leaves your hair looking silky and shiny.
5. Beauty Supplement
ACV contains acetic acid, which is a property known to help break down body fat. Regularly drinking ACV can aid in weight loss and better skin complexion as it get rid of toxins and free radicals inside the body.
How to use: You can drink 2 tablespoon straight up, or you can mix it with a glass of water or your favorite juice.
6. Cleaner and Whiter Teeth
If you’ve ran out of your favorite mouthwash, you can use ACV as an alternative. Again, because of its anti-bacterial property, it can effectively kill bacteria in your mouth that causes nasty odors and cavity. It also break down stains, making your teeth appear whiter.
How to use: Gargle a tablespoon of ACV as you would with a regular mouthwash. If you’re accustomed to minty mouth gargles, you can add a few drops of peppermint oil into the mix.
7. Soothe Wounds
ACV acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, thus, it’s a great soothing solution for skin cuts or small wounds.
How to use: Soak a clean cloth in apple cider vinegar and water solution. Apply it on the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse with cool water. Remember, it will sting, but after cooling it down with water, you’ll notice that the inflammation will be reduced.
