Moved for the Better

I finally moved to a new blogging platform. It was a long process coming to this decision, but I finally did it and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s actually been years since the idea of moving my blog to WordPress dawned on me, but the thought of going through the process of migrating and hosting puts me off. For one, I am not a technical person. Sure, I know a thing or two about basic html and css coding, but hosting is slightly off the grid for me. A few weeks ago though, I finally decided to go for it.

Over the weekend, I locked myself up in my room and transferred my blog from Blogger to a Self-Hosted WordPress site all by myself.  I chose to host my blog on HostGator because it’s what I’m most familiar with. I work at a Web Development company, so I do have a bit of knowledge about self hosting and all the shenanigans that come with it.

With a few tricks up my sleeves and a bit of help from YouTube, I was able to transition smoothly! I could keep on mumbling, but I don’t want to bore you with all these technical stuff. I’m just so glad that this blog is now running on WordPress. It’s like having a new blog all over again. I am still in the process of customizing though, so please bear with me if you experience any technical difficulties.

I’m excited and more inspired to blog now. I can’t wait to share more of my beauty discoveries and nail art creations,  so watch out for more exciting things coming your way! <3

Hi Julie 🙂 Thanks for taking time to reply. I would just like to ask, how can i get the “continue reading..” thingy on my posts? My entries are fully displayed upon visiting the blog. How do i get it to display like yours? Thank you!

Hi Flying Mermaid (I’m just going to call you that, coz’ I don’t know your name 🙂 ),

We’ll mine is automatically generated by my blog’s theme. There are plugins that you can use to automatically add a Page Break (read more) to all your posts, but this is not possible for free WordPress blogs.

What you can do instead, is simply add a page break when you are writing your post. When you’re in the post editor, look for the icon that has dashes (—), click that after the word or sentence where your want the “read more” to appear.

          Here’s a good tutorial that I found http://www.wikihow.com/Add-Read-More-to-Wordpress.

          Hope it helps 🙂
