Review: St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer for Daytime Use

I work as a daytime virtual assistant , so in most days, I’m just at home in my pajamas with no makeup on. However, even though I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, I see to it that I still give my skin its much needed TLC. When I have nowhere to go in the morning, the first thing I would usually do before I go on with my day is wash my face and apply moisturizer. Yes, even if I’m just at home, I make it a habit to moisturize my skin (and you should, too!).

When I’m on house arrest, I prefer using a moisturizer with little to no SPF because it’s less sticky and has a light consistency. I don’t get exposed to direct sunlight anyway so I’m good with a day cream with zero SPF. Such is the case with  St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer. I’ve been using this for over two months now and I am really liking what it does to my skin.

I was a bit hesitant to buy it  at first just because the packaging turned me off. If you’re a frequent shopper at Watsons, I’m pretty sure you’ve already seen this. I am not really a fan of products that come in tubs like this one because I find them very unhygienic. As a remedy, what I normally do is I transfer a good amount of product in a small jar using a clean spoon or spatula. This way, I can keep the product in the big tub fresh all the time.

This is a recycled jar from a moisturizer that I have emptied a few months ago.

On a positive note though, when you first open the tub, you’ll see that it is filled to the brim and it weighs approximately 10 oz (283 gms ) – that’s a lot of product for only P240, if I remember it correctly. This will definitely last me for at least a year, even with daily use!

What I liked most about this product is the consistency. It’s very light, almost gel-like but not runny at all. When you shake the tub, the product inside wobbles like a soft jelly! So cute!

What’s left after two months of usage. Still a lot!

It has a very faint floral scent – think Callily or Sampaguita flowers! I love that the scent is not overpowering, because I’m that kind of person who easily gets turned off by products with very strong scent.

Since the consistency is light, the product gets easily absorbed by my skin. I love how it makes my skin feel smooth and supple once the product settles. The consistency also favors my oily skin very well.

It’s non-comedogenic, so I’m happy to report that it did not break me out.  It does not feel sticky nor hot on the skin; which is something that I really like because I don’t always turn on the AC when I’m working at home( #frugalproblems!).  My face does not turn into a sticky mess compared to most day creams that I’ve tried before.

The product claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I couldn’t vouch for  this because I don’t have a lot of wrinkles and fine lines to begin with. What I can say though is that, my skin has become a lot firmer ever since I started using it two months ago. I am also using the facial cleanser from this line, so that could’ve helped also in firming up my skin.

I’m not obsessed with it, but I do like it. It’s a straightforward product that has everything that i’m looking for in a daytime moisturizer (at home). It’s light, does not have SPF, has a subtle floral scent, and keeps my skin moisturized throughout the day,  It’s cheap and works well on my skin – there really is nothing I could ask for.
But again, I only use this when I’m at home. I do use a different day cream and sunscreen when I go out of the house though, so stop cringing! ^_^
What about you? Do you also prefer using a zero SPF moisturizer at home?
