|cleanse, double cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, treat. That’s the secret! 🙂|
Here’s the current state of my skin with zero face makeup (I only did my brows). If you’ve seen my skin two years ago, then you’ll know that I have a lot of scars all over my face (no thanks to hormonal acne). My derma recommended skincare set worked wonders for my skin, but after more than a year of religious use, it just stopped working.

Long story short, I resorted to finding alternatives and was pleased to stumble upon products that are cheap and works really well for my oily and sensitive skin.
Purederm Collagen Makeup Remover – This my current makeup remover. It changes every now and then though, but this is just what I’ve been trying out as of the moment. It does a great job in removing makeup except waterproof eyeliner and mascara (but I don’t really wear those on normal days). On days when I have full makeup on, I use an oil-based makeup remover from Loreal.
Belo Essentials AcnePro Pimple-Fighting Gel Face Wash – I use this in the shower when I’m taking a bath. Nothing too fancy, but I like how it’s so gentle on the skin. The Belo AcnePro line is oil-free, non-comedogenic, and hypoallergenic – perfect for my skin.
St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub – I know daily exfoliation is not recommended as it can dry up the skin, but being the stubborn girl that I am, I do exfoliate everyday. Unlike the other St. Ives variants, this one has finer beads, so they’re not as abrasive. Also, this helps firm and tone the skin and minimize the pores. This has been my nightly facial wash since July and I’ve seen some major improvements on my skin.
Oatmeal – Yes, oatmeal! Food for my tummy and for my skin. I use this once or twice a week and I tell you, it’s a life saver. I’ve been deeply exfoliating my skin with this since March (because I was preparing my skin for my wedding then ^_^) and my pores have never looked this clean before.

Here’s a closer look at my pores. The combination of St. Ives Timeless Skin definitely shrunk my pores. Also, I no longer get as oily as I did before.
Belo Essentials AcnePro Treatment Toner – I picked this up randomly when I ran out of my favorite Acne Perfecting Toner from MySkin Origins. Fortunately, this worked out really well for my skin. I don’t get that much pimples these days, and it’s probably because this toner helps prevent them from popping out. It also works well in removing the last traces of makeup and dirt on my face.
MySkin Origins Vitamin A Acne Perfecting Cream – My favorite! I’ve been using this since April. Together with the Acne Perfecting Toner, these two got rid of all the zits that I had back then. This cream smoothened out my skin and got rid of the flakiness right around my nose area.It also keeps my skin firm and supple.
It also helped lighten my scars. Some of my scars are already gone, but I still have one on my right cheek that’s taking forever to vanish. Although, it’s way lighter than what it used to. .
Facial Masks – To further hydrate my skin, I do pamper myself with facial masks twice a week. I use almost any mask that I can find at Watsons, but my favorites are the Beauty Buffet and Montagne Jeunesse (Strawberry Souffle).
Garnier Light Complete Multi-Action Whitening Cream 8hr Shine-Free Look – I forgot to include this in the photo, but this is my daytime moisturizer. I’ve also been a longtime user of this and I love how it keeps my face matte and shine-free for a good number of hours. It’s a great base for my concealer and powder (I no longer use bb cream or foundation if I don’t need to).
Being happy helps a lot, too. Being married to Yuan and having our two, cute albeit sometimes crazy dogs make me very happy and that happiness radiates through my skin. As they say, happiest girls are the prettiest. So ladies, always put that smile on your face, regardless of what your skin looks like. It’s your smile that makes you beautiful.
