Review: Ever Bilena Matte Eyeshadow Trios in Tango

Have you guys been to an Ever Bilena counter lately? I’ve been on a makeup buying ban for nearly a year now – what with all the makeup I’ve been receiving from my mother-in-law. I only go to Watsons to stock up on my bath and skincare essentials. I never go to the makeup aisle because as I have said, I have way too much for my needs already. But recently though, I found myself hopping from one makeup counter to another. Wala lang, I just wanted to feel that excitement I get whenever I look at colorful cosmetics (ladies, alam niyo yan, right? ^_^)

Anyway, when I got to the Ever Bilena counter, I was delighted to see a couple of new things and then some that came with a new packaging, like the famous Ever Bilena Matte lipsticks. But what really caught my attention was the new matte eyeshadows. Not sure how long have they been out, but it was my first time to see them. I wasn’t planning to purchase, but I went home with one eyeshadow trios and two matte lipsticks.

I’ve mentioned a few times in this blog that I am not an eyeshadow person, but the reason I bought this was because I got captivated with the color. It reminded me of so many things – autumn, morroco, and sunset. It’s so gorgeous that I couldn’t pass it up.

Ever Bilena Matte Eyeshadow Trio in Tango (P125) comes in three warm colors that you can mix and match to create different looks. The shadows don’t have names so I’ll just baptize them on my own.
From left to right:

Brick Red – This is my most favorite color in the palette as I don’t have anything like it. It’s a beautiful deep red color with hints of brown. It’s a great color for autumn.
Yellow Orange – A beautiful yellow orange shade that’s very versatile. It’s a great lid color that’s quite flattering on girls with olive/morena skintone like me.
Warm Brown – The moment I saw this, I knew this would be a great transition color to tie the other colors together. I was right.
The packaging is pretty straightforward. The palette is made of plastic with silver text that will fade over time.  It comes with a small, dual-ended applicator, which we all know is quite useless. It doesn’t have a mirror.

I was surprised that they didn’t come out as chalky as I expected them to be, especially because they are matte. Ever Bilena eyeshadows are usually chalky, but this one has  smooth  consistency with minimal fall outs. Plus, the pigmentation really surprised me. The colors pop even without primer underneath. Definitely a steal!
one swipe without primer

I’ve been obsessing with anything autumn-related and I’ve been fervently wishing we have autumn here in the Philippines. It came naturally when I decided to come up with an Autumn inspired eye makeup with this trio. And oh, I did this without primer. Whut?
Yellow Orange on the lid, Brick Red on the outer V mixed with Black for more depth, Warm Brown above the crease to blend the harsh lines.

I’m impressed with the pigmentation of each color and for 125php a pop? You can’t beat that. I’m all for cheap products that work. I think It’s a great eyeshadow set to play around with if you’re just starting out. If you’re planning to use it for events, parties, or work, make sure to apply an eyeshadow primer to prevent the shadows from creasing.
Full face makeup. Notice that I also applied the Brick Red to my waterline. I think it’s a nice touch to give your eyes more dimension. On my lips is Ever Bilena matte lipstick in Toast of New York.
Ever Bilena Matte Eyeshadows come in duos (125php) , trios (125php), and quads (150php) and are available various colors. Do check them out!

I've seen this around before but never really paid attention to them since I find most local brand eyeshadow palettes aren't that great but after reading your review, I might just get this trio too! 😀

These matte ones are okay for the price. Nothing that could wow you, but it's a decent product if what you're after is something you can wear for everyday. Color payoff is great without primer, but they won't last that long without a base. 🙂

Now this might be something worth getting. The swatches seem quite pigmented and the shade combination within the trio is not too bad at all. I tend to ignore local eyeshadow brands, not because I'm being a snob, but because the shade selections tend to be tacky most of the time. I live for the day when local cosmetic brands will actually offer great shade selections on eyeshadow palettes, much like what they have in WetNWild. 🙂

Me too. I wish Local Brands would step up their game, coz then we won't have to lust over things that we can only buy abroad. 🙂
