I just learned today that Talia Castellano, one of the youngest YouTube beauty gurus, just earned her wings last Tuesday, July 16, after 6 years of battling with cancer. She was 13.
I think it was late in 2011 when I first stumbled upon one of her YouTube videos. At that time, I was thinking, she’s too young to be playing with makeup. I also noticed that she was bald and she seemed confident about it. That’s when I started to research more about her. I learned that she is suffering from Leukemia and Neuroblastoma. Makeup is one thing that she’s so passionate about and sharing it to the world via video tutorials was her way to encourage not only herself, but also young girls who are in the same battlefield with her. She recently became an honorary CoverGirl.
Talia is a beautiful, bubbly girl who always take things positively despite her illness. At such a young age, she’s already touched hundreds and thousands of people’s lives. She’s a person with a deeper life perspective than most girls her age. When Elen asked her how does she stay so positive, she answered
“A little fishy told me, just keep swimming!”
This young girl has become an inspiration, not only to people who are battling with cancer, but also to people who fail to see the beauty that they have. She’s a talented makeup artist. And for a 13-year old, she’s at par with professional makeup artists out there. It’s sad to see her go. Let us all #PrayForTalia
